Buff is the 5th Element of Hip Hop! I think so!!!

Give Buff his got'damn props! I rarely hear folks mention Buff today when it comes to beatboxin' which is to me the 5th Element of Hip Hop (some would say Knowledge buts this is my blog hehe). There has been a great deal of discussion about who was the first, however one thing is for sure, and that is that in 1983, a trio from Brooklyn won a talent contest at Radio City Music Hall. The trio, formerly known as The Disco Three, Mark "Prince Markie Dee" Morales, Damon "Kool Rock-Ski" Wimbley, and Darren "Buff the Human Beat Box" Robinson. These were The Fat Boys. Buffy helped the group win the talent contest through his ability to use his mouth to recreate hip-hop rhythms and a variety of sound effects. The prize? A record contract. Mhm!!!

Human beatbox legends such as Buffy, Doug E Fresh, and Biz Markie helped propel beatboxin' into the limelight throughout the 80's, and the scene has been growing ever since. Shall i even mention jazz great Bobby McFerrin!?! Michael Winslow the Vocal Effects Master (Police Academy)....

Props to you Buff!!! Props to you!

BUFF!!!!
